Pages from the fire

I came here to write software and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of software.

Misc

I take inspiration from many different sources including the computations done in the tiny ‘brain’ of the fruitfly.

I took the Neural Systems and Behavior course at Woods Hole and had a blast learning about different biological model systems. One of my favorites (especially since Michael Dickinson was teaching it) was the fruit fly flight behavior course. Instead of doing real work, Shane Windsor and I used the high speed video system Michael’s group brought to do some high speed micrography of tethered fruit flies.

In the same course Jennifer Talley and I had a lot of fun mapping the underwater electric field put out by weakly electric fish. We made animations of the field but unfortunately I’ve lost of the data and movies. All I could find was this one static plot of the electric field we made.
